Douglas County sheriff’s deputy charged with DUI

ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. — A Douglas County Sheriff’s deputy was arrested on a charge of drunken driving early Tuesday morning, the sheriff’s office confirmed.

Sgt. Michael Choi was off-duty about 2:30 a.m. when his vehicle reportedly struck a barrier in the 7400 block of southbound Interstate 25 in Arapahoe County, police said. Officers arrested Choi on charges of DUI and careless driving.

He is on paid administrative leave pending an internal investigation

“The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office professional standards section is taking this accusation very seriously,” DCSO said in a statement. “We hold our employees to a very high standard and will determine disciplinary action once the investigation has concluded.”
