You start off strong and optimistic, but health experts say this is the point where New Year's resolutions to get back in shape can take a turn and end up on the "well, maybe next year" shelf.

Health experts say this isn't the time to give up on your weight loss plan, just get more creative with it.

Fitness and nutrition expert Emilee Jones says what happens to your body begins with your attitude and she adds, "You must find something you enjoy. It's really looking at it and saying 'I'm doing this for myself.'"

Jones says it's especially important for women to add plenty of protein to their diet. "Most women tend not to get enough protein and adding it is going to build that lean muscle mass and boost their metabolism."

You can also burn calories by opting to walk instead of drive, join the kids in programs like Tae Kwon Do, and step up the pace when doing household chores.
