DENVER — Law enforcement officials plan to the take down of two drug trafficking organizations in Colorado Thursday.

The two drug groups are not related, said Justice Department spokesman Jeff Dorschner, but are responsible for dealing crack, cocaine and methamphetamine in Metro Denver.

One of the groups has ties to a local street gang. The other has ties to drug traffickers in Mexico, Dorschner said.

A myriad of law enforcement officials including the FBI; Department of Homeland Security; Aurora, Denver and Englewood police; and representatives from Adams, Arapahoe and Jefferson county’s sheriff’s departments will be at the news conference scheduled for 3 p.m. at the US Attorney’s Denver office downtown.
