HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. — Sheriff’s deputies are investigating after two people were found dead inside a Highlands Ranch home after a standoff happened there Friday night.
Douglas County deputies were called to the home near Fox Hunt Circle and Old Stone Drive around 7:30 p.m. Friday. That’s in the vicinity of C-470 and Broadway.
Two people, a woman and a girl, fled the house after some sort of incident, said Douglas County Sheriff’s spokesman Ron Hanavan.
Deputies have not specified that happened, but Hanavan said the woman was injured in the escape because she jumped through a window.
Two other people remained in the home, a teenage boy and a woman, The teen refused to allow deputies into the home leading to an hours-long standoff that included members of a SWAT team being deployed to the home.
At some point in the night deputies learned that the woman in the home was dead.
Hanavan said later in the night the SWAT team entered the home and found the teen dead along with the second victim.
Deputies are now investigating the incident as a murder/suicide.
Deputies said the teen did not fire a gun at them and no deputies fired a weapon.
No names have been released. It’s believed all four involved are related.
“We believe that this is an isolated incident and the public is not in any danger,” Hanavan said. “We are not looking for a suspect and no one is in custody.”
