DENVER — The Denver Department of Public Safety is encouraging residents to sign up for Smart911.

Officials said more than 90 percent of 911 calls come from mobile phones, but the dispatcher gets only limited information.

With Smart911, a safety profile is created that gives first responders important information about you, your family members and pets, your home and your vehicles in an emergency.

All that information will automatically display on the dispatcher’s screen when you call from the phone number connected to your profile. That can save seconds or minutes during an emergency.

Visit to sign up.
