DENVER — The Denver City Council approved a settlement of $860,000 Monday night in a police beating case that involves an officer who has been accused in dozens of excessive force cases.
This particular incident took place a few blocks north of Coors Field in March 2008.
A civil lawsuit says James Moore was beaten after a noise complaint at his apartment complex at 26th and Blake streets.
The lawsuit filed against officer Shawn Miller and another officer was settled for $860,000.
In 2008, the city paid $225,000 to another man after Miller allegedly broke his knee in an excessive force case.
Another lawsuit was filed against Miller and the city for another incident. Businessman Yasir Gabani accused Miller of handcuffing him instead of an alleged threatening customer.
Gabani also claims Miller told him the officer was tired of the businessman filing police complaints.
