DENVER — A Denver police vehicle caught fire near Interstate 70 and Quebec Street on Thursday afternoon after a chase of four aggravated robbery suspects.

There were no injuries. The Denver Police Department said its best guess is the cruiser caught fire from overheating.

The officer in the vehicle was helping the Commerce City Police Department with the traffic stop after a chase.

Commerce City police said six male suspects in a vehicle were accused of robbing a couple at Pioneer Park.

Police said the suspects displayed handguns during the robbery.

An officer spotted the suspect vehicle, and Commerce City and Denver officers pursued it on Interstate 70.

Denver police said the tires came off and the vehicle was running on its rims at a slow speed when it came to a stop on I-70 near Quebec.

The six suspects were taken into custody.

The incident caused massive delays on I-70 during the evening commute.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
