DENVER — Denver police are searching for a driver who they say hit a person on a moped and then took off Saturday morning.

The incident occurred at about 6:30 a.m. on York Street at 18th Avenue.

Officers said the driver of a dark-colored or green sedan was heading northbound on York Street, made a left turn from the right lane onto 18th Ave. and hit the moped. The driver then kept going after the person was struck.

The driver of the moped remains in the hospital with serious injuries.

Police have released little information about the suspect. They are asking anyone with information about the hit-and-run driver to call Denver police.
