DENVER — The Denver Police Department is responding to the killings in Baton Rouge, La., with Chief Robert White urging officers to use extreme caution while on patrol.
A message was broadcast on all police radios after the shooting.
“Attention all cars. Per Chief White. All officers are reminded to use caution, extreme caution on all calls. Not to respond alone to calls that require a two minimum multiple officer response and continue to staff two officers in a car until further notice. For additional information contact your command staff.”
The message went on to say all officers working the street should keep their heads on a swivel and that everyone should be vigilant coming to the station or around the Denver Police Department headquarters.
For their safety, all officers working Sunday morning were asked to return to their stations and pair up in teams of two.
There is no word on how long the new requirement will stay in place. Chief Robert White could address the issue later Monday.
