DENVER — An alleged home intruder was shot and killed by officers on Tuesday night, the Denver Police Department said.

Officers were called to the 1800 block of South Alcott Street just before 6 p.m. on a report of a burglary in progress.

Police shot and killed the suspect after he produced a knife, police said. The suspect died after being taken to a hospital. No officers were injured.

The Denver medical examiner identified the suspect as 29-year-old Alex Duran.

Police said a series of criminal events led up to the home intrusion and there were several scenes in the area on Tuesday night.

It’s not known how many officers fired shots.
