DENVER — There will be major delays on southbound I-25 through central Denver beginning Tuesday evening and lasting all night.

Three lanes of southbound I-25 will be closed from 7 p.m. through 5 a.m. Wednesday from 23rd Ave. to Colfax Ave. for realignment of the highway.

The Colorado Department of Transportation says major delays could happen on the detour routes, so drivers are urged to use different ways to get where they’re going Tuesday night.

There will also be various single and double lane closures on both northbound and southbound I-25 Wednesday and Thursday from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 the next morning.

Once the realignment is complete, the highway will remain in its new configuration through the end of this year or early next year.

The work is part of a bridge replacement project on I-25 between 23rd and Colfax. It’s expected to be finished in August 2013.
