BROOMFIELD, Colo. — A 4-year-old boy who died Thursday had massive trauma on his body, the Broomfield Police Department said.

Police are investigating his death as a homicide. They said they took a relative, 25-year-old Emanuel Joseph Doll, into custody.

It happened in a home near West 136th Avenue and Creek Drive, police said. Police have not said how the child died.

The call came in about 9:30 a.m. as a 911 hang-up followed by a medical call, police said.

Doll’s relationship to the child is not clear. Police said there is no additional danger to the public.

“This is an ongoing investigation and next of kin have not been notified,” police said on Facebook
