BOULDER, Colo. -- The Boulder County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of 29-year-old Stephanie Anderson who died inside the jail on May 27th.

Anderson was arrested on a theft charge as well as an outstanding warrant.

“They didn't pay attention to her. They didn't pay attention to her at all,” JoAnne Quintana said.

Quintana’s son was Anderson’s boyfriend.

“I want justice,” Quintana added.

Inmates inside the jail – including a friend of Anderson’s – has told the family that Anderson pleaded with deputies for help but that help never came.

“She was screaming 'help me help me' but no help at all,” Quintana added.

Boulder County has launched an investigation into the matter after the topic was brought up at a recent Board Meeting of the County Commissioners.

“We take these matters very seriously,” Undersheriff Tommy Sloan said.

Sloan said over 60 people have been interviewed and eight detectives are working the case.

When asked by FOX31 Denver reporter Joe St. George if anyone has reported screams asking for help Sloan said there had been some “conflicting reports.”

“There has been no employee suspensions,” Sloan added.

Anderson leaves behind three children – a memorial has been set up outside the jail.

Sloan says the investigation should be concluded next week.
