CASTLE ROCK, Colo. — Firefighters were on the scene of a small wildfire near the Terrain neighborhood in northeast Castle Rock Friday afternoon.

It was burning on about three acres in a wooded area near Founders Parkway and Saddleback Drive. It’s been named the “Woodlands Fire.”

Officials believe a lightning strike started the fire around 3 p.m.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said no structures were threatened.

South Metro Fire Rescue said it had units assisting Castle Rock Fire and Rescue.

Founders Parkway was temporarily closed in the area for water supply operations. A detour was in place from Crimson Sky to Rising Sun drives.
