WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. — A family in South Carolina tried to save a little money by buying a couch on Craigslist but ended up paying big.

After Katie Johns and her son noticed their skin was covered with small red patches, they went to the doctor to see what was wrong, WISTV reported.

Bed bugs was the doctor’s diagnosis, but at first the family didn’t know where they were coming from.

“When the exterminators came and they actually pulled the couch apart, it was immediately clear that the couch … was infested,” Johns said.

Now, their whole home has been infested with the bed bugs, WISTV reported.

The exterminator fees cost $3,000.  “It’s not worth it,” Johns said.

This classic case of buyer beware, is what Johns wants to share to others.
