A witness, Chris Mendoza, told FOX31 a red SUV flipped over and burst into flames on the ramp from westbound US 36 to southbound Federal Boulevard.

Another witness, Veronica Martin, told us a man from the crash carjacked another vehicle, which crashed a few blocks away. Kazell confirmed that information.

There was a large police response to the area. Westminster police, Colorado State Patrol and Adams County Sheriff's Office all responded.

The off-ramp from westbound US 36 to southbound Federal Boulevard in Westminster was closed during the investigation.

Veronica Martin told us a red SUV "blew past" her and her husband and crashed at US 36 and Federal. She said the SUV was on fire and another person on scene was giving CPR to a female passenger who was ejected from the SUV.

Martin said the driver of the SUV, an adult male, came up to her husband and said he needed to go to the hospital. She said he was bleeding from the head.

She and her husband did not give the man a ride to the hospital.

Martin said Westminster police arrived and the driver told them not to tell the police he was there.

She said the man got into the passenger seat of another woman's vehicle that had stopped on scene.

Westminster police spokeswoman Kate Kazell said the suspected pulled the woman out of her vehicle by force and he drove off in her vehicle.

The suspect crashed the carjacked vehicle at 91st Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard.

Kazell said the male suspect ran from that scene, but they were able to catch him and take him into custody about a block away.

His condition was not known.

Police expected road closures and delays to last for several hours during their investigation.
