CENTENNIAL, Colo. — Stop by Dianne Lewis’ home for a spell and it won’t take long to discover she is a dog person.
“They love you no matter what you do,” she said.
Lewis would do almost anything for her two dogs, Sadie and Tulo.
“They’re family members,” she said.
And so, she says, are the K-9 cops with their human counterparts at the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.
“Their dogs go home with them and they are part of their family,” Lewis said.
Lewis wants them to be a permanent part of their human family. That’s why she wants to buy every dog in K-9 unit a state-of-the-art Kevlar vest. She started a GoFundMe account called Back the Blue Canine Force.
Her goal is four vests at $1,000 each. The sheriff’s office said it is grateful when citizens come forward like Lewis did and foot the bill.
“It’s a nice way to say thank you to our police department for all that they do for us,” she said.
