DENVER — CDOT will launch a new campaign starting Monday aimed at getting drivers to buckle up.

The campaign will be called “Beware of the Beltless” and will launch after a press conference at Denver Health Monday at 9:30 a.m.

CDOT representatives will speak on their community partnerships to further the campaign.

CDOT says that traffic fatalities over the past year have increased more than 11 percent and many of these deaths can be attributed to lack of seat belt use.

The numbers are scary: The 15 percent of Coloradans who don’t buckle up comprise more than half of the 2015 passenger vehicle traffic fatalities.

CDOT says the aim of the campaign is to show that not buckling up puts not only yourself, but everyone else as well at risk.
