CHERRY HILLS VILLAGE, Colo. — A car hit a 4-year-old boy who was riding his bike down the street with his father behind him Tuesday evening, the Cherry Hills Village Police Department said.

It happened at about 6:40 p.m. near East Oxford Avenue and South Dahlia Street.

Police said the driver did not see the boy because of landscaping in the median. The driver turned left and the front of the car hit the child.

The boy was wearing his helmet and is expected to recover. Police thought he might be released from the hospital later Tuesday night.

The driver was not ticketed.
