BROOMFIELD, Colo. — Broomfield High School student Chad Britton died Tuesday, according to Broomfield Police, who confirmed in a press release that the 16-year-old succumbed to his injuries after he was hit by a car outside of the high school on Monday.

Police investigators said Britton was standing near a parked car on Daphne Street around 11:30 a.m. when a car driven by another teenager — a still-unnamed 17-year-old — struck him.

The driver, who attends a school in Lafayette, stayed at the scene and waited for police.

No charges have been filed against the driver, but the investigation into the incident was ongoing as of Tuesday afternoon.

This is the second tragic accident that has led to the death of a Broomfield High School student in the last three months. Mason Wedan, 15, was killed in a plane crash in Erie on Aug. 31.
