NEW YORK — A Boulder woman was killed Friday after she was hit by a dump truck while crossing a street in New York.
Elise Lachowyn, 48, was on 11th Avenue near West 37th Street when the driver of the truck struck her as he tried to make a left turn.
The driver, 51-year-old Carlos Torres, was arrested and charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian.
A witness told the New York Post that Lachowyn was wearing a hood and her “peripheral vision was blocked.”
Lachowyn was the vice president for marketing for Tech 4 Kids. She was in New York to attend the North American International Toy Fair. She was also the co-founder of Think Outside Marketing in Boulder, the Boulder Daily Camera reported.
She is survived by her husband Drew and 6-year-old daughter Skyler. A GoFundMe site has been established to help raise money for her daughter’s education.
