BOULDER, Colo. — The Boulder Reservoir swim area, which was closed over the Fourth of July weekend because of high bacteria levels, will reopen Tuesday, the city of Boulder said.

The reservoir had been closed since Thursday, much to the dismay of holiday goers and putting a damper on the “Star Spangled Splash” Fourth of July celebrations.

The water is tested daily, and officials believe the elevated level of bacteria was because of the runoff from recent rain.
