BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — A Boulder County employee was killed in an ATV crash Tuesday morning, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said.

Faulkner Merdes, 45, was found pinned under an ATV along Lobo Trail in the 8400 block of Diagonal Highway near Airport Road.

Merdes and two co-workers with Boulder County Parks and Open Space were on the county-owned property doing weed prevention and control operations when the crash happened, the sheriff’s office said.

The Longmont man worked for Boulder County Parks and Open Space for 18 years. He was working on one portion of the property when the crash happened. His co-workers were on a separate ATV on another part of the property.

The circumstances leading and surrounding the accident are unknown and are being investigated by the sheriff’s office.
