AURORA, Colo. — Bomb squads were called to Buckley Air Force Base Monday morning, and the base was put on a temporary lockdown after a dog was alerted to a scent coming from a delivery truck.

According to the Buckley AFB Public Affairs office, the incident occurred around 7 a.m. As of 9:30 a.m., the East Mississippi Avenue gate to the base was closed, with traffic being diverted to the two north gates off East 6th Avenue.

Though officials said an investigation was ongoing, they were able to confirm the Aurora Police Department and officials from the Arapahoe County Bomb Squad had been called on scene.

When our crews arrived shortly after 10 a.m., emergency personnel at the base said the threat had been averted.
