LOVELAND , Colo. – A mail carrier in Loveland thought he had found a bomb inside a mailbox Friday. Thankfully, he was wrong.

Loveland Police say the deliveryman opened a mailbox in the 2600 block of Empire Ave. shortly before noon and found a bottle of liquid with wires and a “device” attached to it.

The Northern Colorado Bomb Squad’s robot was brought to the scene and removed the item from the mailbox. Pellets were fired into the device, which was determined to be a “barometer of sorts” and not explosive, according to police Sgt. Jeff Fisher.

Police are asking those with information about the incident to contact the Postal Inspector’s Office at 877-876-2455.
