BOULDER, Colo. -- The largest race of its type in the country, the Bolder Boulder 10K, went off without a hitch Sunday.
Team USA placed third behind Ethiopia and Mexico. Ethiopia's Merima Mohammed won the women's elite race in 33 minutes, 58.79 seconds, while Allan Kiprono of Kenya defended his individual title, winning the men's elite race in 29:28.79.
This year's race saw 48,741 total runners, down from 51,681 in 2012. Organizers wondered publicly if the decrease was related to the Boston Marathon attacks several weeks ago. But no major problems were reported during the Boulder race.
