CHERRY HILLS VILLAGE, Colo. -- A woman walking her dog in Cherry Hills Village found a body wrapped in a tarp on Tuesday morning, the Cherry Hills Police Department said.

The Arapahoe County coroner Wednesday said the man who died was 40-year-old Travis Harstock. The cause of death has not been released.

His body was found near East Layton Avenue and South Clarkson Street about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Police had several blocks in the neighborhood cordoned off during the investigation.

Police Cmdr. Patrick Weathers said the results of an autopsy will determine if it will be considered a homicide investigation.

Weathers said the last homicide investigation in Cherry Hills was in 1981.

Authorities said the body was a white male and there were no visible signs of trauma.

A large police presence spanned a five-block radius in the neighborhood. The Englewood Police Department was called in to assist with the investigation because police believe some of the evidence spread across city lines.

A K-9 unit was also called in for assistance after night fell.
