SALIDA, Colo. — The body of a Utah woman lost in a rafting accident was found by her brother on Wednesday evening, the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office reported Thursday.

Amanda Taylor of Vernal, Utah, disappeared in the Arkansas River after her raft struck a diversion dam near Salida about 10 p.m. Saturday. Her six companions in the boat survived the accident.

Several members of Taylor’s family remained in the area this week to search for her.

About 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, the victim’s brother discovered the body of a 31-year-old woman three miles downstream from the site of the accident. The body was later identified as Taylor’s.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday in Colorado Springs.
