LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. -- A bicyclist was killed Tuesday night after he was knocked into traffic by a vehicle then hit by a second vehicle in a hit-and-run, the Colorado State Patrol said.
The collisions happened about 7:20 p.m. on Larimer County Road 8E near Carter Lake and the entrance to the Berthoud water treatment plant.
The bicyclist, 43-year-old Jason Holden of Berthoud, was riding eastbound on Larimer County Road 8E when an unknown white sedan or small SUV tried to pass him.
As the sedan or SUV passed Holden, it might have made contact with the bicycle, causing Holden to lose control and fall onto the roadway, the CSP said.
After falling off the bike, Holden tumbled into the westbound lane and was struck by a 1994 Chevrolet pickup. Holden was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the pickup, 49-year-old Robert Conde, was not hurt and stayed at the scene, the CSP said.
Anyone with information about the white sedan or SUV, or its driver, is asked to call the CSP at 303-239-4501.
