AURORA, Colo. — Aurora police issued a Medina Alert Sunday morning after a white SUV hit and killed a man on E. Colfax Avenue.
Witnesses told police that they saw a man lying in the left through lane of Colfax at Quentin Street, near the University of Colorado Hospital, around 2:40 a.m. A SUV headed east on Colfax ran over the man, police said.
It’s not clear why the man was in the street in the first place.
The SUV continued a short distance to the east, made a U-turn, drove slowly back past the scene and then left the area headed west, police said in a Facebook post.
Witnesses told police the SUV is a Suburban or Tahoe type vehicle. It had a Texas license plate of BBD-3309. Witnesses also said they saw a Hispanic woman in the passenger seat, police said.
Police issued a Medina Alert for the SUV but said in a Tweet around noon that both the vehicle and the driver had been located.
#MedinaAlert Update: Vehicle and driver have been located. Alert canceled. Thanks for everyone's assistance. #SaferAurora
