ARVADA, Colo. — Arvada K-8 was placed on lockdown Friday because of a threat outside the school, according to the Arvada Police Department.
Arvada police and Jefferson County Public Schools security responded to the school around 3:20 p.m.
Students and staff were safe, the school district said, but they had to remain inside until the situation was resolved.
Authorities did a controlled release of students, starting with students who ride the bus, followed by pickup by parents on site. Students walking home are being held at this time.
The lockdown was later lifted.
