Arapahoe Basin to open Colorado ski season Wednesday

ARAPAHOE BASIN, Colo. — Ski season is almost here. Arapahoe Basin Ski Area announced Monday it will open Wednesday, Oct. 17.

The opening will mark the official start of the Colorado ski and snowboard season.

The Black Mountain Express lift will start carrying skiers and riders to the intermediate High Noon trail at 9 a.m.

“We’re extremely excited to be the first ski area to open in Colorado,” said Alan Henceroth, Arapahoe Basin chief operating officer. “The staff and I can’t wait to see skiers and riders out on the hill having fun. That’s what we live for.”

There will be no beginner runs open at this time.
