JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — Word is spreading that the Applewood Golf Course in Golden could be turned into a large housing development.
That news isn’t sitting well with some neighbors of the golf course who would rather see it remain a golf course.
They’re worried about what will happen to their property values with the loss of open space and things like the increase in traffic and population.
Applewood has been open for 50 years. It’s a public golf course that was built by the Coors family and brewery.
But now the Molson/Coors company wants to sell the property to a developer that wants to build 450 new homes on 145 acres.
A public meeting about the plans will take place in March.
