DENVER — Terrance Roberts, a former gang member who became a well-known anti-violence activist pleaded not guilty Monday to shooting a man last year.
Roberts is accused of shooting a man outside the Boys and Girls Club in Park Hill in September last year.
He faces charges including attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.
The Denver DA said Roberts was involved in a fight on Sept. 20 around 6 p.m. in the parking lot outside the Boys and Girls Club. The fight escalated and Roberts shot Hasan Jones, 22, prosecutors said.
Roberts has said he was trying to defend himself against Jones, according to a probably cause statement after his arrest.
