GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — A California man, who has been featured on the television show “America’s Most Wanted,” was arrested and admitted to a Mesa County jail in October.
According to the Huntington Beach Independent, 23-year-old Luke Austin Artinger, who has been on the run from California authorities for about four years, was arrested in Grand Junction in October on suspicion of drug trafficking.
Huntington Beach police have been searching for Artinger since July 2010 on parole violations and attempted murder charges.
Allegedly, Artinger stabbed his friend repeatedly in the neck and head after an altercation regarding money.
The parole violations were connected to previous convictions on vandalism and battery charges.
A press statement from the Huntington Beach police said Artinger was being held in a Mesa County jail for about five months, and it has yet to be decided whether or not the fugitive will be extradited to California.
Heather Benjamin, a spokeswoman for the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, told the Independent Artinger had been booked under another name and the department is investigating why there was a delay in obtaining his true identity.
