BOULDER, Colo. — Titan, a K-9 unit with the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, died this week after succumbing to a brain tumor, BCSO reported.
The dog began his service in March 2007 with Deputy Richard Peebles after being donated to the department by the Peterson family of Loveland. Over the years, Titan was deployed 631 times.
Titan is credited with the seizure of more than $30,000 in cash, and numerous successful tracks. Most notably, he tracked and located a suicidal party, a stabbing suspect, an attempted homicide suspect, and a party who assaulted a patrol deputy. The dog also located the remains of a dead person who had been missing nearly three years.
Titan served until August 2014, when he had to be medically retired due to a brain tumor.
Peebles and Titan conducted demonstrations throughout Boulder County, BCSO said. Titan made visits to preschools, retirement homes and every place in between.
