ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. — The Adams County Sheriff’s Office was searching for a wanted sex offender on Friday.

The man in pursuit was Rafael Sanchez, age 31, according to Adams County Chief Rick Benson.

However, early on Saturday morning, Sanchez turned himself into the Adams County Detention Facility.

Sanchez had two warrants for failure to appear and failure to comply.

The warrants were posted after Sanchez learned that his $200,000 bond was going to be revoked during a court appearance on Friday.  Then during a break in court, he cut off his ankle bracelet and took off,  according to police scanner reports.

The 31-year-old was charged with 7 counts of sex assault on a child and three counts contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
