AURORA — A rogue couch on the road may have caused an accident between a taxi and two semi trucks early Wednesday morning on I-225.

According to Colorado State Patrol spokesperson Nate Reid, the accident took place just south of Parker road shortly before 5 a.m. The investigation of the accident impacted the morning commute, as southbound I-225 was closed for much of the morning.

As of 9 a.m., Reid said investigators were still looking into what caused the accident. But Reid did confirm that a couch was involved and that the end result was a taxi becoming lodged between two semi tractor trailer trucks.

Reid said the driver of the taxi was taken to a local hospital after he was safely removed from the vehicle. That driver’s conditions were unknown as of 9 a.m.
