DENVER — A fan is recovering after falling “several stories” between two landings during Sunday’s Broncos-Ravens game at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
The Denver Police Department said witnesses reported the man, identified as 42-year-old Francisco Morales, and his wife were at the game when a friend’s hat flew off and landed on the next landing.
The landings are separated by a straight fall down. Police said when Morales tried to jump to the other landing to get the hat, he missed and fell “several stories landing on a concrete ramp.”
The accident happened early in the game on the west side of the stadium in the concourse near Gate 10.
Officials don’t believe foul play was involved and described Morales as “highly intoxicated.” Morales was taken to Denver Health and is listed in critical condition.
According to a GoFundMe page that was set up Morales, “his brain is experiencing major swelling, they had to remove part of his skull bone, and he has a fractured spine.”
A spokeswoman from the stadium management company deferred all questions to Denver police.
