3-year-old shot while father cleans gun in Commerce City

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — A 3-year-old was shot in the arm on Wednesday night as the child’s father was cleaning a gun, the Commerce City Police Department said.

The bullet went through the child and hit a neighbor’s home in the 9700 block of Nucla Street just north of the Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Refuge.

Investigators said the shooting was accidental and the child was in stable condition at Children’s Hospital Colorado in Aurora. There were no other injuries.
