BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. — A 22-year-old University of Colorado student was pronounced dead Monday after skiing in an expert area at Breckenridge Ski Resort, the Summit County Coroner’s Office said.

Jacob Koltun was skiing on Peak 7 without a helmet before his death. Koltun was transported to Breckenridge Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The coroner’s office said the death appears to be an accident. The nature of the death or what killed Koltun were not released.

“No further information is available at this time,” the coroner’s office said in a news release.

According to Kulton’s Facebook page, he was a senior at CU in Boulder and was originally from Alameda, Calif.
