AURORA, Colo. — A 2-year-old child fell from a second-story window of an Aurora apartment building Thursday afternoon, firefighters said.
The child was taken to a local hospital, said Cptn. Wendy Lippman of the Aurora Fire Department. His or her condition has not been released.
The incident happened at an apartment complex near 880 South Chambers Road. The building the child lives in is only three stories tall.
Lippman said the accident is a reminder for parents now that summery weather has arrived and residents are opening windows to let in fresh air.
“Especially our toddlers, they have this natural curiosity, ” Lippman said. “Usually lack of supervision leads them to these potentially dangerous situations.”
Parents should always be watchful and make sure cribs or low-lying furniture are not near open windows or doors, Lippman said.
