2 injured in rock slide in Deer Creek Canyon Park

DENVER – Two people were injured in a rock slide in Deer Creek Canyon Park Thursday afternoon. Rescuers were able to bring all five hikers in the group to safety.

Video from SkyFox showed two young men trying to flag down a rescue helicopter. Two other people were lying on the ground and appeared to be injured.

A search and rescue team from Inter-Canyon Fire/Rescue was dispatched to carry the injured people out. FOX31 Denver has learned the two injured were part of a 5-person group.

Around 5 p.m. rescuers reached the party and were treating the two victims. They then took the hikers down to safety.

Deer Creek Canyon Open Space Park is a popular hiking and biking area located south west of Littleton.
