DENVER -- Two people were injured early Sunday morning after a hit-and-run outside Taqueria Los Gallitos, the Denver Police Department said.

Neighbors said hundreds of people usually meet in the parking lot late at night with blaring music, to drink and party in the street in front of their homes.

The gathering nearly turned deadly when a driver reportedly plowed through the crowded street in the 300 block of South Canosa Court.

One person was hit and is in serious condition, police said.

Police said they are looking for a dark purple Nissan Altima with a missing right sideview mirror.

Anyone with information is asked to call Denver police.
