MESA COUNTY, Colo. — The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office located the truck connected to the missing teenagers from Northern Colorado on Friday. Authorities found the body of a young female who was since identified as missing Ashley Doolittle and her ex-boyfriend, Tanner Flores. Doolittle was found with a gunshot wound to the head. The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office said Doolittle of Berthoud was reported missing just before 8 p.m. Thursday. She was expected to return home by 7:30 p.m., and when she didn’t, family members searched a nearby area and found her unoccupied vehicle near Lon Hagler Reservoir. After interviews with family members, investigators with the sheriff’s office found Doolittle had recently ended a one-year relationship with Flores, 18.

Investigators found that Flores had been missing since 3:30 p.m. Thursday, and that he was upset and distraught over the breakup. At 8 a.m. Friday, investigators received information about the sighting of Flores’ truck near Collbran. That led to the discovery of Doolittle’s body and Flores who was taken into custody. Flores is being held in the Mesa County Jail and will soon be transferred to the Larimer County Jail. The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office and the Larimer County District Attorney’s Office are working to file charges against Flores.
