ARVADA, Colo. — A 17-year-old girl was killed Friday night when a truck veered across multiple lanes of traffic and slammed into the car in which she was riding, the Arvada Police Department said.

The head-on collision in the 7500 block of Wadsworth Boulevard occurred about 7:30 p.m., police said. A truck driven by David K. Bunn, 54, was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed. It then veered quickly into oncoming traffic, colliding with a northbound vehicle.

The driver of the victim vehicle, an 18-year-old woman, sustained severe injuries to her legs and pelvis. Her passenger, Lyneah Dike, was declared dead on scene.

Early investigations indicate that Bunn had been drinking, police said. Charges are pending.
