15-year-old accused of stabbing brother arrested by Longmont Police

LONGMONT, Colo. — A 15-year-old boy accused of stabbing his older brother at Faith Baptist Church was arrested Monday morning, the Longmont Police Department said.

Officers arrested the boy at his home in the 300 block of Chinook Avenue about 7:15 a.m. and was interviewed at the station, then transported to the Boulder County Juvenile Detention Center and charged with second-degree assault with a deadly weapon, a Class 4 felony.

Longmont Police said in a release it recovered the knife allegedly used in the attack, described “as a folding pocket knife with a legal length blade, below 3 1/2 inches. ”

The 17-year-old victim was hospitalized overnight with multiple stab wounds and is expected to be released Tuesday.

The stabbing occurred about 7:20 p.m Sunday during an argument at Faith Baptist Church (833 15th Ave.), police said.
