  • U.S. fertility rate hits all-time low

    WASHINGTON — New numbers show fertility rates in the U.S. are at their lowest rate since the government started keeping track in 1909. A study released by the National Center for Health Statistics found there were 61.5 births per 1,000 women aged 15 to 44 during the past study year.     SEATTLE — Coffee giant Starbucks plans to shut down Teavana stores nationwide. Most locations will close by the spring. Starbucks said the stores, which are primarily based in malls across the country, have been underperforming.   • Anadarko plans to restart most wells shut down after deadly Firestone home explosion

    DENVER — Anadarko Petroleum said it plans to restart more than 3,000 vertical wells that were shut off after the deadly house explosion in Firestone in April. The company disconnected all 1-inch diameter natural gas flow lines from more than 3,000 vertical wells in Colorado shortly after the explosion.
