Eastbound I-70 reopened after semitrailer fire in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Colo. — The eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 in Georgetown reopened about 9:45 p.m. Thursday after being shut down due to a semitrailer fire.

The closure at exit 228 started about 1 p.m. and caused a backup that stretched for miles.

According to the Colorado State Patrol’s Golden office, a semitrailer carrying flooring materials had caught fire.

The westbound lanes were also briefly closed.
