FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A 19-year-old man was sentenced to 38 years in prison for stabbing to death a Fort Collins man last year.

The Fort Collins Coloradoan reports Dylan Thompson was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty in April to second-degree murder in the death of 65-year-old William Grabusky.

Fort Collins police found Grabusky dead inside his apartment in August 2017 after his out-of-state wife requested a welfare check.

Thompson told the court Monday that he killed Grabusky in self-defense after the man had tried to sexually assault him at knifepoint. Thompson said he took control of the knife and stabbed Grabusky in the chest.

Attorneys say Grabusky and Thompson had connected weeks before the killing after Thompson posted an ad on Craigslist seeking a “sugar daddy-type situation.”
